Sunset Tour in Luang Prabang ( private tour )
Daily departure from Luang Prabang, but only as private
tour.
Pick up from the hotel at 14.00 by van and an English speaking
guide. We start the tour by a visit to Ban Phanom village,
only 2.5 km from the center of Luang Prabang. The village
is famous for cotton and silk weaving, and some beautifully
hand-crafted souvenirs. The Lu people of Ban Phanom came
originally from Sip Song Panna in the southern Chinese province
of Yunnan, having been invited by King Kitsarath. An interesting
place to visit Banpo Village. People there still live very
traditional with many women weaving beautiful embroideries
for bags, clothes, etc. Since this is a closed-knit society
there is not much competition and prices are virtually fixed.
are rucksacks and pouches as well, all beautifully embroidered.
After the visit we drive back to Luang Prabang where, around
4 or 4:30 PM ,on the Buddhist Day of the week ,the monks
in Wat Ho Siang and Wat That begin to beat the drum and
the cymbals in the drum tower.
