The following itinerary is therefore a sample
program. The actual program followed on any tour is of course
also dependent upon the season and any new trail discoveries.
However, the spirit and intention of the tour will always be
the same.
Day 1. Pick up from the hotel
in the morning and departure by boat up the Mae Kok River to
the Karen village of Ruam Mitr. Elephant riding and trekking
from Karen village to Lahu village of Ya Pou ( approximately
2.5 hours ). We will have picnic lunch at Ya Pou and after lunch
we will walk to the Lahu village of Jaleh, known for animist
rituals. Dinner in the village and overnight in the same village.
Day 2. We wake up early in
the morning and after breakfast we walk down the mountain to
the Houei Mae Sai waterfall, where we have a picnic lunch at
our hill tribe cottage on the bank of a mountain stream. In
the afternoon we continue walking to an Akha village ( approximately
3 hours ) and then to the Thai village of Houi Khom ( approximately
1.5 hours ) for pick up and return to Chiang Rai, where we will
arrive just before sunset.
Tour Includes: All transfer
by pick up trucks or van / boat / elephant riding / with English
speaking guide, very primitive accommodation, all meals indicated
in the program. No beverages included.
