Visit the most sacred temple in Chiang Mai. Wat Prathat Doi Suthep, 15 kms. from the city and 3,500 ft. above sea level. See the marvellous golden pagoda which is containing the relics of the Lord Buddha. The scenic road takes you up the mountain and in to the national park of Doi Pui. If you want to walk up the 300 stairs you will see the marvellous golden pagoda which contains the relics of the Lord Buddha. It was built in 1383 and it is said that an elephant was carrying the relics up the mountain and where it would take a rest should be where the relics should be placed. From the temple you will enjoy a panoramic view of Chiang Mai city. This is also a very sacred and frequent visited religious site for Thai Buddhists.
