CEI 70 - 3 Days / 2 Nights - Chiang Khong Hill Tribe Explorer and Adventure Tour

Daily departure from Chiang Rai, but only as a private tour.

Day 1. Chiang Rai to Cheng Meng. Pick up from the hotel in Chiang Rai in the morning and departure to the Chiang Khong area. We will stop at some tribal villages along the route. Lunch at a local restaurant overlooking the spot, where the giant Mekong catfish are caught by local fishermen. After lunch, we continue the tour to the Hmong village of Cheng Meng for dinner and overnight in our private facilities.

Day 2. Cheng Meng to Chiang Khong. After breakfast in the village, we will start trekking up Doi Chi Fa. The trek is approximately three hours, at the end of which you will enjoy a spectacular view of the entire valley including Laos and the Mekong River. We will have lunch at the peak. After lunch we return to Cheng Meng in the afternoon and transfer to our Ban Golden Triangle in Chiang Khong for dinner and overnight.

Day 3. Return to Chiang Rai. Early this morning we will visit the morning market, where you will see many hill tribe peoples from surrounding villages buying their daily products. We return back to Ban Golden Triangle for breakfast and later we continue by boat from Chiang Khong up the Mekong to Chiang Saen. This 2.5 hour boat trip is through one of the river’s more gentle gorges. You will see the daily life in Laos on the left hand side and the more modern life in Thailand on the right hand side. After the boat trip we travel by van on several routes back to Chiang Rai arriving there by noon time.

Tour Includes: All transfer by pick up trucks or van with English speaking guide, primitive accommodation, all meals indicated in the program. No beverages included.
